Mel Lee

Mel Lee leads Strategy and Transformation for HR at HSBC. She is responsible for overseeing the Global People and HR strategy, delivery of key HR and people programs, and innovation, capability and engagement for the function. Mel joined the company in January 2019, having worked with HSBC to deliver their global HR Transformation program from 2015 – 2018. Mel started her career in HR working for Mercer, later working with Aviva (Friends Life). Prior to joining HSBC, she was a Managing Director at Accenture – leading out on large-scale, complex change programmes, shaping HR Transformation methods and thought leadership. Her experience spans People Strategy, Transformation, Colleague Experience, Talent, Recruitment, and People Services. She is particularly passionate about skills, development, and inclusion. Mel was born in Finland and spent her early years in Moscow and Africa. Returning aged 10 to attend a UK school, but with the benefit of living between England and countries like Kuwait, Indonesia and Israel. Mel attended University in Southampton and studied BA Corporate Communications. She recently moved to Essex to be closer to her family, a benefit of hybrid working.
