Charman Hayes is the Executive Vice President, People and Capability for Mastercard Technology, overseeing all aspects of people and talent management for Mastercard’s Technology organization (~10,000 headcount), where we’re driving technological change on a global scale, designing and building the critical systems that connect billions of people to the vital products and services they need every day. In this role, she drives the creation and execution of a people strategy tailored to Mastercard’s technical and financial objectives while bringing together people and capability functions including talent acquisition, training, development, total reward, future of work and diversity and inclusion as well as social impact initiatives. Jointly reporting to Mastercard’s Chief People Officer, and President and Chief Technology Officer, Charman is integral to shaping the company’s engineering culture and advancing programs to recruit, retain and develop top technology talent for Mastercard.

Charman joined Mastercard in 2022 with over 20 years of experience in financial services, including 15+ years aligned to technology. In a prior role at BlackRock, she led HR for the Aladdin Product Group, where one of her primary roles included co-developing technology strategy for BlackRock’s portfolio management software. Prior to BlackRock, Charman was the HR executive responsible for Technology and Fintech at Brown Brothers Harriman. During her career, Charman also held HR Business Partner leadership roles at Lehman Brothers/Barclays and Morgan Stanley. She began her career in the Human Resources Associate Program at JPMorgan Chase 20 years ago where she held HR Business Partner and Employee Relations roles.

Charman’s expertise spans technology transformation, M&A integrations, organization design, talent management, leadership development, and employee relations. Based in New York City with her wife and two daughters, Charman enjoys running and has completed 6 marathons. She holds a BA from Rosemont College and an MS from Columbia University.

Charman serves on advisory boards for Lesbians Who Tech and the Business Insider’s Workforce Innovation, and is the Executive Sponsor for Mastercard’s Pride Employee Resource Group. She is passionate about leadership collaboration and frequently shares her best practices and experiences through various speaking engagements.
