Michael H. Schneider

In August 2022, Michael H. Schneider was selected to be the Assistant Director of the FBI’s Human Resources Division where he serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer and is responsible for supporting and developing the FBI’s world-class workforce from recruitment through retirement. Prior to being selected for this role, Mr. Schneider served as the Special Agent-in-Charge of the FBI’s Denver Field Office where he led a diverse team of 450 special agents, intelligence analysts, technical personnel, and professional staff to address all national security, cyber, and criminal threats throughout Colorado and Wyoming.From 2017 until 2020, Mr. Schneider was Section Chief and Deputy Assistant Director of the Critical Incident Response Group. In this capacity, Mr. Schneider led the FBI’s response to critical incidents worldwide by providing unique capabilities and direction to support crisis response operations on high priority criminal, national security, and cyber matters. This included all tactical assets through the Hostage Rescue Team and field office SWAT teams; technical assets through the Weapons of Mass Destruction National Assets Render Safe mission and Special Agent Bomb Technician program; behavioral-based investigative and operational support through the Behavioral Analysis Program; aviation and surveillance assets through the Surveillance and Aviation Program; and the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Counter-UAS capabilities.Mr. Schneider also served as the FBI Lead and US Government On-scene Commander at the 2018 Winter Olympics where he led a team to ensure the safety and security of US interests in South Korea.From July 2014 until December 2016, Mr. Schneider was the Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge of the St. Louis Field Office’s National Security Branch and Intelligence, Cyber, and Security Programs. During this time, Mr. Schneider led the FBI’s response to the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, including the subsequent Civil Rights, Domestic Terrorism, and Cyber investigations.From November 2015 to January 2016, Mr. Schneider also served as Acting Section Chief of the International Operations Division where he oversaw the Africa, Americas, and Europe operational units and Legal Attaché program.Prior to transferring to St. Louis, Mr. Schneider was a Supervisory Special Agent in the International Terrorism Operations Section where he led, coordinated, and provided oversight of CONUS-based international terrorism intelligence collectio
