Guido Helmerhorst: It was a pleasure to compete. Unfortunately, of course, we didn’t win but I’m glad to be here. And at least to show it because in the end, it’s really an experience product. So it’s good to be here.
Jon Kennard: It was good to have you here. VR is something which has been around for a while, but the technology has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years. What are the big changes that are going to make this really take off? Is it the graphics? Is it the experience? Is it the immersive nature of it all?
GH: I think once people experience it, it’s about really being immersed in that situation, or in that experience. So then the question becomes, okay, how the hell are we going to create such experiences without throwing heaps of money at it, or not being in control of that creation process, basically. And that’s what we’re trying to solve with a platform where we really enable companies to create their own content.
And I think that’s the part which is taking off more and more. There’s a lot happening; yesterday, another announcement of a new headset, so the technology is moving very rapidly. For people, it’s sometimes hard to follow and keep up.
But at the same time, what we see is the challenge of adoption within companies, right? Because they need those stepping stones. So for us, that means that they even can play it on a mobile phone, or on a tablet.
So that’s where we see more and more interest. But then the question is, okay one, how I’m going to create the content, and two, [how] I’m going to actually deliver it to my employees. So that’s why we also are keen to integrate with the bigger learning management systems that are around.
JK: So that’s the question. Is that where you think you might be going next? Because with VR, it was always about; you’re a consultant, and you put these scenarios together for companies. In what you do, is there a low and no code element? Which means finally, now businesses can create these things more easily themselves?
GH: That’s what it’s all about. So that’s really the train the trainer approach. We provide the platform, and then we train people within companies. And then they take that in starting to create your own content, because, these are the people who are out there, they are in certain situations where they say, this is where we can digitize.
And I think that’s, where a lot of uptake and interest is coming from, because then they’re in control, and they can provide the platform to their employees, for creation…
