UNLEASH World 2024: 5 Ways to Build a Strong Employer Brand
At UNLEASH World 2024, Valerie Capers Workman, Chief Talent Engagement Officer at Handshake, sat down with UNLEASH for an exclusive interview to discuss the key elements needed to create employer brands that employees want to work for.
Handshake’s Valerie Workman took to the stage during this year’s UNLEASH World in Paris to inform delegates how to best build a strong employer/talent brand that is fit for purpose to attract and retain the future generations of talent.
Sitting down with UNLEASH Senior Journalist John Brazier, Workman details why developing a robust employer brand is a must-have for attracting the workforce of tomorrow and what ingredients are required to achieving this.
In the exclusive interview, Workman explains there are five key components to success, including content creation expertise, a robust data analytics function and a strong understanding of DEIB to “make sure that you don’t have bias when you’re trying to create these wonderful messages and you’re not excluding people you want to include.”
However, Workman also highlights that many organizations don’t have all five components and often misunderstand what it takes to develop a strong employer brand.
This is a scientific function. You can’t just pull people from the HR team or from the recruiting team and then say: Hey, you’re a now talent brand executive or a talent brand professional. It is a very specific skill set. You have to have the right people on the team and then you have to have the right tools,” she explains.
