The traditional way of working is broken; a new operating model is needed.
Instead, organizations need to embrace a new skills-focused approach. Particularly if they want to be innovative, to have an engaged workforce and see business results, according to Deloitte’s September 2022 insights report.
According to the survey of 1,200 employees and more than 250 business and HR leaders, organizations that look at skills and potentials, rather than job roles and degrees, were 63% more likely to achieve results and 98% more likely to retain high performers.
Deloitte’s research also found that skills-focused organization also see higher inclusion (47%), employee experience (79%) and were better at navigating future disruptions (77%) .
But going through this transformation to become a skills-focused organization is much easier said than done. Thankfully, HR tech is on hand to help.

To bring this to life, Deuss used his session at UNLEASH America 2023 to do a product demo of two elements of Fuel50’s technology: Architecture and People Insights.
Architecture really gives organizations visibility over their skills gaps, but also their skills surpluses. They can then be communicated to employees – this helps with organizational alignment.
Deuss then went on to discuss People Insights – do you have the right personality for your role? Are you aligned with your role?
Essentially, if organizations, and HR particularly, can get ahead of the game with the help of technology like Workforce Insights, they will have a more engaged workforce, and will avoid a high attrition rate.
