SD Worx buys long-term partner Intelligo
This will grow the company’s presence in Ireland.
Why You Should Care
Good payroll tech is essential in the modern workplace.
Find out why SD Worx has decided to buy its long-term partner in Ireland Intelligo.
What will the future hold for the combined company?
Ensuring employees get paid on time is a central part of HR’s role. But managing the logistics of payroll can be very tricky – this is why many organizations, both large and small, turn to HR tech providers to support them.
It has never been more important that companies use the right technology to pay their people – this is because cyber attacks are on the rise, tech errors are becoming more and more common and employee demand to work from anywhere creates new tax risks and challenges.
In this context, European HR and payroll giant SD Worx is strengthening its tech portfolio – as well as expanding its presence in Ireland – with its acquisition of Irish HR tech company Intelligo.
Intelligo specializes in payroll and has two tech platforms in this area called MegaPay and MegaPay Outsourced – it processes 40,000 paychecks every month for brands like Nandos, AXA, Aviva, BT, Deloitte and GlaxoSmithKline.
SD Worx is headquartered in Belgium; its customers include Costco, Hertz, M&S and WHSmith. IT has been partnering with Intelligo in Ireland for more than a decade so this acquisition was an easy decision for both parties.
The future for SD Worx and payroll
Talking about the acquisition SD Worx CEO Kobe Verdonck commented: “Having Intelligo join SD Worx further reinforces our ambition of being the leading European provider of integrated end-to-end HR solutions for all organizations and workers.
“We’re on a long-term expansion journey, and the acquisition of Intelligo bolsters our presence and offering in Ireland.
“Ireland is a hub of business interaction and our customer-base is ever-growing, so with this announcement our combined customers will, more than ever, benefit from our best-in-class HR services.”
Intelligo’s founder Padraig Gill added: “Since 1996, Intelligo has built a reputation for being a trusted payroll and HR solutions provider.
“By joining with SD Worx, we believe that we can continue to deliver on this commitment, and that our clients will benefit from the European-wide footprint and experience SD Worx offers.
“We also believe that SD Worx customers will benefit from our extensive local Irish knowledge and expertise. We all look forward to seeing the relationship thrive as we combine forces and integrate services over the coming months.”
SD Worx’s move to buy Intelligo and strengthen its position in the Irish market comes just a year after the company did the same in the Nordics with the acquisition of Aditro.
Aditro is cloud HR and payroll provider with customers in Sweden, Finland and Norway – examples include Ikea, Saab, and Volvo. It was bought by SD Worx in April 2021 after a ten-year partnership (similar to Intelligo).
Talking about the deal, Verdonck commented: “For SD Worx, this is a unique opportunity to enter the Nordics market and to cover Finland, Norway and Sweden. Both the employees and customers will benefit from the integration of Aditro into SD Worx.
“The decision to acquire Aditro was driven by our complementary geographies, business strategies, product portfolios and fundamentals as well as our shared cultures and values.”
Watch this space. Are more Europe-focused acquisitions the future for SD Worx? Or will it start setting its sights on the Americas and Asia too?
