In this 60-minute webinar, exclusive to UNLEASH, Josh Bersin, Founder and CEO at The Josh Bersin Company, and William (Bill) Pelster, Co-Founder at The Josh Bersin Company, joined UNLEASH’s Editor-in-Chief Nima Sherpa Green to discuss four themes doing the most to shape the world of HR:
Labor shortages: Forcing companies to deal with employee activism, hybrid work, pay equity and leadership development. “Hire to grow” will no longer work, and is fast being replaced by productivity and redesign.
Organizational change: Organizations are now highly connected and a new dynamic structure will impact every company, redefining careers, mobility, work arrangements, performance management, HR, and more.
GenAI: With growing adoption, it will transform our products, companies, work, jobs, and every aspect of HR, changing the HR Tech Stack, the role of HR professionals and increase the urgency to transform company operations.
Employees expect more: It is now time to move beyond “employee experience (EX)” to a new theme we call Employee Activation.
UNLEASH is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDC) for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP recertification.
UNLEASH invited HR Leaders who were watching live to share which of these four drivers they think will be most influential to them over the next 12 months.
In order of precedence, 41% said organizational change; 36% pointed to AI; 19% said employee expectations, and 5% said labor shortages.
The results reflect much of the research The Josh Bersin Company has collated for their HR Predictions Report 2024.
Focusing on leadership: The path to becoming a dynamic organization
“The number one rated comment from the poll is around change. And that doesn’t surprise me from a leadership perspective,” Bersin adds.
He references the annual PwC CEO survey, published in January, as an indicator of this metamorphosis impacting businesses.
“60% of global CEOs believe that the company that they lead – as it exists today – will not exist in ten years.”
The stark finding shines a light on just how rapidly technology and employee experience changes are moving at pace.
“At this point, every company that we talk to is experimenting with AI,” Bill Pelster adds.
“You’re seeing it pop up in a lot of smaller solutions – not at the enterprise level– but already we’re seeing GenAI in specific business functions. You’re seeing it in legal, in procurement, in talent acquisition and service centers.”
In response to a question from the audience on whether 2024 will be the year of enterprise-grade AI, Pelster then shares what will be required to drive the successful adoption of this technology.
Unsurprisingly, one key element is trust: And what leadership can do to enable it.
“It’s the number one component in the adoption of AI.
“The organization needs to be able to trust the answers that these solutions provide…Because I think this is going to be a year of total inflection.”
