Athena Karp is the Founder and General Manager of HiredScore, a Workday company and a leading artificial intelligence technology company that has transformed Human Resources for the largest companies globally. For over 10 years, Athena has been an entrepreneur, leading her company and creating products that enable organizations to adapt to the future of work, improve how they prepare and upskill employees for new jobs, and progress diversity and inclusion goals. Under her leadership, HiredScore has won best-in-class recognition and honors, including Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas, Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest-growing US tech companies, and global HR innovation awards.

She is also an industry leader in ethical and responsible AI, including her work on national and international governmental and NGO task forces, working groups, and expert opinions on how to balance innovation with safety in high sensitivity areas of AI use, such as hiring and workforce displacement. She has designed and created novel products that proactively mitigate bias, overcome imbalanced data and test for AI safety in employment decisions.

Prior to founding HiredScore, Athena was an investor in New York, most recently at Altaris Capital, where she managed and sourced healthcare investments in highly regulated data environments. Previously, she was an Investment Banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, focused on public technology and media companies.

Athena is an advisor and a former board member for efforts to alleviate poverty and improve the public education system in West Philadelphia through her work with Community Education Alliance’s network of charter schools with over 1,300 disadvantaged students. Since 2018, she has been active in creating new programs to prepare youth with competitive skills in light of AI and rapid change, and job readiness. She is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers and a member of the 2018 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute.

Athena holds a BSFS in international politics from Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service.
