HR technology unicorn Darwinbox has confirmed new funding of $40 million to further drive international expansion plans and technology development.
The funding was led by Teachers’ Venture Growth (TVG), the late-stage venture and growth investment arm of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
It follows a previous funding round of $140 million, led by Partners Group and funds managed by KKR, announced in March.
Darwinbox provides a mobile-first Human Capital Management (HCM) platform designed to encompass the entire employee lifecycle, including workforce management, employee experience, compensation and benefits, and people analytics.
Founded in 2015, Darwinbox secured $15 million funding from Salesforce Ventures in 2021 on top of its previous $35 million total.
In 2022,the company achieved unicorn status following a $72 million Series D funding round led by Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), which has previously invested in the likes of Netflix, Facebook and Spotify, among others.
After securing $140 million of investment in March, Darwinbox Co-Founder Jayant Paleti told UNLEASH that the company was aiming at international expansion, particularly in North America.
Since launching in 2019, Darwinbox has built a client portfolio of more than 1,000 organizations – including the likes of Starbucks, Nivea, AXA, Cigna, WeWork, and T-Systems – representing more than 3 million employees.
Aiming to take on established technology players such as Deel and Rippling in the HCM space, Darwinbox has recently rolled out enhancements to its platform including a multi-country payroll solution and enhanced generative AI features.
"Out front and accelerating, we’re building HR’s agentic AI layer,” Paleti adds.
“Beyond GenAI, we’re enabling autonomous, cross-system HR agents that drive productivity, strengthen compliance, and elevate the employee experience.
“With Model Context Protocol (MCP) support, Darwinbox is the first HCM platform where customers can safely build and deploy their own agents.”
