Daily AI use has surged 233% in 6 months, and it's driving productivity and job satisfaction, finds Slack

UNLEASH digs into the new data from work management tech giant Slack on AI use and benefits with Lucas Puente, VP, Product Research & Insights.

Last year, Slack found that just one in three workers were using AI.

Interestingly, rather than using the time they saved from AI to do value-adding, meaningful work, they actually ended up doing more admin or busy work.

Slack’s 2024 Workforce Index data found employees were still spending a third of their days on low value work, like attending unnecessary meetings, replying to emails or doing paperwork.

All that has changed in 2025 – that’s according to new Slack data.

The Salesforce-owned work management tech company surveyed 5,150 global workers and found that 60% of workers are now using AI – that’s a 50% increase since November 2024.

Slack’s data found that there’s been a whopping 233% surge in daily AI use in just six months.

Interestingly, 40% of workers have embraced the newest iteration of AI, agents. 23% said they had offloaded tasks to agents.

Plus, AI is now supporting deep work, not just busy work, according to Slack.

44% of the workers surveyed said they used AI to automate repetitive tasks, freeing up time for complicated work.

Plus, 51% are using AI to eliminate the need to do extensive research, 50% leveraged AI to help with writing and communication, and 45% said AI helped to overcome creativity blocks.

Clearly workers are excited about AI; the question that remains is how can businesses, and specifically HR leaders, continue to mobilize this AI momentum?

How AI can unlock worker productivity and satisfaction

Speaking exclusively to UNLEASH about the highlights of the new Slack data, Lucas Puente, VP, Product Research & Insight at Salesforce, shares: “What’s exciting though is that AI adoption among workers is about more than just automation.

Slack’s data found that daily AI users were 64% more productive, 58% more focused, and 81% more satisfied with their jobs, than non AI users.

They were also better at better at focusing and managing their stress, as well as had a better work-life balance and sense of belonging, compared to non-AI users.

This is confirmed by recent research by Jabra and the Happiness Research Institute, which found that workers who used AI daily are 34% more satisfied with their jobs.

The research found that trust and confidence in AI is up, and grows with use – workers who use AI agents daily are twice as likely to trust them.

To conclude, Puente tells UNLEASH: “Today’s leaders need to encourage AI, not just permit it.

“When workers are encouraged to use AI, they’re more than 200% more likely to become daily users.

"And that matters because as the data shows, when workers use AI daily that’s where the real benefits emerge” for individuals and businesses alike.
