Microlearning-focused EduMe closes $20m Series B

2 min read

2022 is off to a stellar start for the HR tech sector.

However, one sub-section that is doing especially well so far this month is learning tech. Hot on the heels of 360Learning acquiring Looop for $20 million, EduMe has closed a $20 million Series B.

EduMe takes a different route to many learning companies and provides personalized training for mobile and deskless workers for Uber, Gorillas, Vodafone, and Deliveroo.

The round was led by Prosus; Workday Ventures and Series A lead investor Valo Ventures also participated.

EduMe is planning to use the influx of cash to continue its push to be a market leader in providing learning and development for deskless and mobile workers in the US and beyond.

It plans to do this by continuing to invest in innovating its microlearning products that allow mobile workers to access training anywhere and learn in the flow of work.

A bright future for EduMe

Talking about the investment, Prosus head of EdTech investments Denis Nikolaev noted: EduMe realized early that the deskless workforce is critically important across multiple global industries and is growing rapidly, yet, has not been served well by existing training solutions.

“By creating a highly effective mobile training product tailored specifically for deskless workers, EduMe has achieved excellent traction in the on-demand industry that we at Prosus know well, with multiple exciting growth opportunities ahead.”

EduMe CEO Jacob Waern added: “Currently, 80% of the global workforce is deskless, but the vast majority of them aren’t given the necessary tools and training to be successful.

“This is where we step in, delivering technology-enabled access to knowledge, which in turn enables wider workforce success.

“This investment confirms our position as the category defining platform for deskless workforce training.

"It allows us to continue to develop an industry-leading product proposition while accelerating our growth in the US and globally, leading the way for a new generation of workforce learning. We are delighted to welcome our new partners.”

Workday Ventures managing director Mark Peek continued: “We support EduMe because of its innovative training and learning platform that helps organizations navigate change and grow while serving an ever-expanding deskless workforce.”

With sectors like retail, hospitality and healthcare struggling to retain staff in the ‘Great Resignation’, could providing valuable learning opportunities through tech like EduMe be a solution?
