US-headquartered AI safety and research company Anthropic is expanding its global presence.
This builds on its growth trajectory over the past two years. Since launching its large language model Claude at the start of 2023, Anthropic’s run rate revenue has grown from $87 million at the beginning of 2024 to $5 billion in August 2025.
Complimenting this revenue growth was a $13 billion Series F round, which Anthropic closed in September this year and led to a $183 billion valuation for the company.
The reason for Anthropic’s heightened focus on global markets is that 80% of consumer usage of Claude happens outside of the US, and among Anthropic’s 300,000 customers globally are notable organizations across EMEA and APAC, such as the European Parliament, Novo Nordisk, SK Telecom and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
To support this global expansion, Anthropic has announced the appointment of a new MD of International, Chris Ciauri. His appointment builds on other recent Anthropic executive hires, including Paul Smith as Chief Commercial Officer, and Hidetoshi Tojo as Head of Japan.
Speaking about his appointment, Ciauri shared: "The global demand for Claude is extraordinary—from financial services in London to manufacturing in Tokyo, enterprises are trusting Claude to power their mission-critical operations.
As part of this global expansion, Anthropic has announced it will be hiring 100 new roles in EMEA, out of the London and Dublin offices, as well as opening its first Asia office in Tokyo. Anthropic currently employs around 1,000 people worldwide.
Over his 25-year career in the tech world, Ciauri has held roles senior leadership roles across various different tech giants.
He was Executive Vice-President & General Manager, EMEA, for Salesforce for a decade, before moving into the President of EMEA for Google Cloud role in 2019.
Most recently, he did a two-year stint as CEO of Unily, an digital employee experience company based in London.
Writing about his appointment on LinkedIn, Ciauri shared:
Smith welcomed Ciauri to the Anthopic team, noting: “Business leaders understand that AI will be essential to winning moving forward.
“Some of the most important organizations around the world are partnering with Anthropic because they know we understand enterprise and what it takes for AI to work at scale across critical operations.
“Safety and trust are fundamental to everything we build—the foundation enterprises need when AI powers their business.
