At the heart every successful business are people, their skills, dreams and ambitions, to make things better. At IKEA we strive to create a better everyday life for the many people – a vision that has guided us for more than 80 years and has made us what we are today: a unique, meaningful and trusted brand globally.

Ulrika Biesèrt, IKEA Retail (Ingka Group People & Culture manager), is a member of the Ingka Group Management team. Key to her role, which is the equivalent of CHRO, is ensuring that we are always guided by our purpose and values, keeping customers and co-workers at the heart of what we do so that both business and people grow together.

From an early age, she has been intrigued by human behaviour. This early interest led to her study of psychology, social sciences and economics in university.  After spending six years working as a family counsellor, she realised she would be better suited to a more commercially driven environment. IKEA was exactly the right step in combining her business interests and acumen, with a deep-seated ambition to influence and broaden the people agenda.

She has been with IKEA since 1997, with several HR assignments over many years across all its core businesses.  She is a fierce advocate for diversity and inclusion, and a champion of continuous learning. With over 20 years of leadership experience, she takes pride in her ability to develop individuals and teams to benefit both people and business.
